Semiya payasam

This recipe serves 3.
I have made this payasam in a drinking consistency.The same thing can be prepared thick as a pudding.

Ingredients:

  • Roasted thin semiya - 2 handful (For pudding,add 4 handful)
  • Milk - 1 liter
  • Sugar - 100 to 150 grams(depending on sweetness)
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon
  • Raisins and Cashews - 6 to 10,each
Method:

  • Use the thread variety semiya for more taste.Roast it in a tsp of ghee.You can also get readymade roasted semiya.
  • Boil the milk and set aside to cool down little bit.
  • Add the roasted semiya to the milk and keep stirring on a medium flame.(may be 10 to 15 min)
  • Once the semiya is cooked and milk thickens slightly,add sugar and keep stirring for 5 min.
  • (For pudding,keep stirring till you get a consistency slightly thicker than gravy).
  • Roast cashews and raisins in ghee and add to the payasam.
Serve hot/chilled.For payasam or pudding,stop cooking at one level before the expected consistency as it thickens with time.
