Kadala curry for Puttu

This is a very simple gravy that cannot be avoided while having puttu.This should be slightly watery unlike a normal gravy .

This recipe serves two.

Ingredients:

  • Kala Chana(small ones) - 200 grams
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
To grind:
=======
  • Small /Madras onions - 10
  • Coriander seeds/dhania - 3 tablespoon
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Pepper corns - 10
  • Curry leaves - a sprig
  • coconut shredded - 3 tablespoon
Method:
======
  • Soak the chana in water overnight and pressure cook it.
  • Grind all the ingredients with little water into a fine paste.
  • Add the chana with its stock,ground paste and salt in a hard bottomed vessel and allow it to boil.
  • When the raw smell goes off,switch off and add coconut oil on top.

Serve with puttu.

When u pressure chana, u can put some finely chopped ginger and garlic and one sliced tomato too.It will give a different taste.

.For viewers:Those who like the flavour of garlic can do that.And also once the gravy is done,chop an onion lengthwise and saute in a tablespoon of coconut oil and garnish the dish.It will taste yummy.These are all variations of the recipe.
